AvA Yachts Announces Construction Update on NBA Star’s Superyacht
Overview
In the yachting industry there are yachts that are owned by over-the-top individuals, some who are excessively wealthy. Some are even owned by celebrities…in particular sport celebrities. The subject of one of this month’s features is the 35-meter “Infinity Nine” which is finishing up at Turkish builder AvA Yachts. The owner of this yacht is the well-known former NBA athlete Tony Parker. Most notably he played for the San Antonio Spurs as well as the Charlotte Hornets. After he left NBA he set up his own exploits on the French scene.
Infinity Nine’s construction has been long, especially given the vessel is 35-meters. Build started back in 2018 and has only been recently seen in the shed while being prepared for launch. In fact, once completed this yacht is destined to make her world debut at the 2022 edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival. Part of the reason why the 35-meter vessel has been in build for so long has been a combination of factors. Covid pandemic as well as supply-chain issues and shortages compounded the build schedule.
Head of AvA Yachts, Atilla Küçükdiker said, “Infinity Nine really is a game changer and class-beater for this size of steel explorer yacht. Having overcome covid issues and supply chain issues resulting in her delay, we are really thankful to him [Tony Parker] as a customer for being so understanding and we are looking forward to showing her off to the world at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September”.
Standout features that we know of onboard the new yacht include a sizable master suite comprising of 29 square-meters. It is also located on the upper deck therefore benefitting from an exterior deck towards the aft. Large windows are also abundant in the room. Infinity Nine will carry a Gym to allow the owner to workout while at sea. There is an enlarged swim platform at the stern and a jacuzzi is situated on the aft part of the sun deck. This deck is also partially covered by the yacht’s hardtop. There is guest capacity for twelve (12) in six (6) cabins.
The yacht is already being offered for charter and potential guests will enjoy the yacht’s interior which has been done with stylish contemporary inspiration. Below is an example of the salon space showcasing the ‘earthier’ side of the tonal spectrum. Although Infinity Nine is just 35-meters the designers have ensured that the interior does not feel cramped in anyway. Particularly of note is the open-concept layout of the salon. No room dividers or separation walls, the main salon flows seamlessly into the formal dining space defined only by the change in usage of the areas.
Previously mentioned was the cabin count which takes in ten guests in five cabins which are between the lower deck and the main deck…since the master is on the upper deck. Some of those earthy tones are exuded in this guest cabin below deck with modern fixtures, sumptuous living is enhanced by supple upholstery choices. Through the sliding door is the compact but well-appointed ensuite.
Everything on the yacht as it related to design was kept in-house by AvA Yachts. Exterior, interior as well as Naval Architecture were handled by this yard. Construction was made possible by using steel for the hull and aluminium for the superstructure. Top speed is expected to be 14-knots with a cruising speed of 10-knots. As per the renderings, Infinity Nine has been finished with a dark hull and contrasting white superstructure. If all goes according to plan guests will be able to experience this made-to-measure luxury yacht later this summer.
